The Auto-Exclude page of the Preferences<\/a> window contains settings for automatically ignoring specific files and folders during backup.<\/p>\n

Some system files and folders on the computer are not designed to be taken by Genie Timeline manual file selection. Disaster Recovery is designed to h;andle these files.<\/p>\n

To Enable Auto-Exclude:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  1. From Preferences \u2192 Go to Auto-Exclude<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  2. Select Enable Auto-Exclude (Recommended)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  3. Click OK<\/strong> to save changes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    To exclude hidden files from backup:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    This option will only apply on backing up hidden files selected from My Computer.<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Select Exclude hidden files<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    2. Click OK<\/strong> to save changes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      To add files\/folders to Auto-Exclude:<\/strong><\/p>\n

        \n
      1. Click Add<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      2. Type the file\/folder path of the item and description (optional).<\/li>\n
      3. Click Done<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
      4. Click OK<\/strong> to save changes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        To remove files\/folders from Auto-Exclude<\/strong> (not recommended for pre-generated auto-exclude items):<\/p>\n

        1. Select the File\/Folder path.<\/li>\n
        2. Click Remove<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
        3. Click OK<\/strong> to save changes.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
